Building a More Compassionate Response to Trauma, Grief, and Life’s Most Difficult Moments
Trauma & Grief Institute (TGI) is more than a psychotherapy clinic.
We are an organization dedicated to helping individuals, families, clinicians, and organizations respond to trauma, grief, and major life challenges with compassion, clinical excellence, and practical support.
While psychotherapy remains at the heart of what we do today, our vision extends beyond individual counselling. We believe healing happens not only in the therapy room, but also through education, professional collaboration, and healthier communities.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every person experiencing trauma or grief has access to knowledgeable, compassionate support—and where the professionals and organizations who serve them have the training, tools, and confidence to respond effectively.
Our goal is to improve how trauma and grief are understood and supported across healthcare, workplaces, schools, and communities.
What We Do
Today, TGI’s work is organized into three areas:
1. Clinical Services
Our multidisciplinary team provides evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, burnout, life transitions, and other mental health concerns.
Our clinicians bring advanced training in approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Ego State Therapy, Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and other trauma-informed modalities.
2. Professional Education
We believe that supporting one clinician has the potential to help hundreds of future clients.
Through consultation, supervision, continuing education, and specialized training programs, we help mental health professionals deepen their confidence and clinical skills when working with trauma and grief.
Our goal is to contribute to a stronger, more connected, and more knowledgeable clinical community.
3. Organizational Support
Trauma and grief don’t only affect individuals—they affect workplaces, teams, schools, and communities.
TGI is expanding its work with organizations by developing trauma-informed education, consultation, and specialized response services that help leaders and teams navigate difficult events with confidence and compassion.
Whether supporting organizations following a critical incident or helping build trauma-informed workplaces, our focus is on promoting psychological health, resilience, and thoughtful leadership.
Our Philosophy
We believe healing is not about “getting over” difficult experiences.
It is about learning to move forward while integrating what has happened.
We believe trauma and grief deserve specialized care.
We believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity.
We believe clinicians deserve excellent training.
And we believe organizations can play an important role in creating environments where people can heal, recover, and thrive.
Looking Forward
Trauma & Grief Institute continues to grow and evolve.
As we expand our work, our mission remains the same:
To improve the way trauma and grief are understood, supported, and treated—for individuals, clinicians, organizations, and the communities they serve.
Our Core Values
We are guided by the following:
Growth
Emphasizing personal and professional growth for clients and practitioners.
Authenticity
Fostering real, honest connections and practices.
Integrity
Maintaining high ethical standards and transparency.
Empowerment
Helping individuals find strength and validation in their personal healing process.
Balance
Promoting a holistic approach that respects the mind-body connection, and
diverse paths to wholeness.
