Strengthen your confidence, competence, and clinical decision-making as an EMDR therapist.

This consultation group is designed for clinicians who have completed EMDR Basic Training and are looking for ongoing support in the application of EMDR therapy.

Limited to a maximum of four participants, these small-group consultation sessions provide an opportunity to bring cases, ask questions, troubleshoot challenges, and deepen your understanding of EMDR therapy in a supportive and collaborative environment.

This is a space to ask the questions you may hesitate to ask elsewhere. Many clinicians discover that others are wondering the exact same thing. Consultation is often where the most meaningful learning happens. Whether you’re newly trained or have been practicing EMDR for years, consultation offers an opportunity to refine your skills, learn from the experiences of other clinicians, and gain confidence in your clinical decision-making.

Krista Helman’s consultation style emphasizes understanding the why behind EMDR interventions. Rather than simply learning what to do next, clinicians are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of the principles and decision points that guide effective EMDR practice. The goal is to help you build the confidence to think critically, adapt thoughtfully, and ultimately develop your own clinical artistry while remaining grounded in the EMDR model.

Krista approaches consultation through the lenses of attachment theory, polyvagal theory, parts work, and the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model.

Consultation Hours and EMDR Certification

Because these groups are limited to a maximum of four participants, participation may be counted toward EMDR certification consultation requirements. Participants are responsible for tracking their own consultation hours and maintaining records of the content discussed during each session.

Please note that consultation is not supervision. Clinicians remain fully responsible for their own clinical work, decision-making, documentation, and professional practice.

Meet Your Consultant

Krista Helman, MSW, RSW, RCSW

Krista Helman is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Trauma & Grief Institute. A Registered Social Worker in Ontario and Registered Clinical Social Worker in British Columbia, she has worked across healthcare, long-term care, government, community mental health, and private practice settings.

Krista is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, international speaker, author, and breathwork facilitator with advanced training in trauma, grief, dissociation, attachment, polyvagal theory, and ego state therapy. She is passionate about helping clinicians bridge the gap between theory and practice, leaving trainings with tools they can confidently use right away.
