Designed for EMDR-trained clinicians, this workshop will revisit the eight phases of EMDR therapy while focusing on the clinical decision-making that brings the protocol to life.

EMDR therapy involves countless decisions throughout the therapeutic process. When should you slow down? When should you move forward? When is an interweave appropriate? How do you know whether a client needs more preparation, additional targeting, or a different approach altogether? Understanding what you are doing—and why—is often the difference between simply following a protocol and practicing EMDR with confidence.

Drawing from years of experience providing EMDR therapy, consultation, and coaching within EMDR Basic Trainings, Krista will review key concepts, common challenges, and practical considerations for working with a variety of client presentations, including trauma, grief, dissociation, military populations, first responders, and children.

Whether you are newly trained, returning to EMDR after a break, or looking to strengthen your foundation, this workshop will help you build confidence in your clinical reasoning and deepen your understanding of the standard protocol.

Krista Helman is the Founder and Clinical Director of the Trauma & Grief Institute. A Registered Social Worker in Ontario and Registered Clinical Social Worker in British Columbia, she has worked across healthcare, long-term care, government, community mental health, and private practice settings.

Krista is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, international speaker, author, and breathwork facilitator with advanced training in trauma, grief, dissociation, attachment, polyvagal theory, and ego state therapy.
